Code of Conduct🏸 

Purpose

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected of all members, including athletes, parents, and coaches.
Respect Badminton Club is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that supports skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
All participants are required to uphold these values both on and off the court.

 

1. Athlete Conduct

All players must:

  • Show respect to coaches, officials, teammates, and opponents at all times.

  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship, win or lose, and never engage in verbal abuse, unsportsmanlike gestures, or negative behaviour.

  • Follow all club rules, training instructions, and safety procedures.

  • Arrive on time for practices, games, and meetings; notify the coach if absent or late.

  • Care for equipment and facilities, leaving spaces clean and organized.

  • Play fairly and give full effort during training and matches.

  • Avoid inappropriate language, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.
     

2. Parent and Spectator Conduct

Parents and spectators are expected to:

  • Encourage players positively and refrain from coaching during games or practices unless invited by the coach.

  • Respect all officials, coaches, and athletes, regardless of team affiliation or outcome.

  • Promote sportsmanship and fair play through example.

  • Address concerns privately and respectfully with coaching staff or club management.

  • Support the club’s commitment to affordability, inclusion, and cultural respect.
     

3. Coach Conduct

Coaches and volunteers agree to:

  • Provide a safe and positive training environment for all athletes.

  • Treat all participants fairly and equitably, regardless of age, skill, or background.

  • Model respect, discipline, and integrity in all interactions.

  • Communicate clearly, constructively, and consistently with athletes and parents.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and follow all club and facility safety policies.
     

4. Attendance and Commitment

  • Members are expected to attend all scheduled practices and matches.

  • Absences must be communicated to the coach in advance whenever possible.

  • Continued unexcused absences or lack of effort may affect match opportunities or placement on teams.
     

5. Consequences for Misconduct

Respect Badminton Club uses a progressive discipline approach to address violations of this Code:

  1. Verbal Warning – Discussion with the coach to correct behaviour.

  2. Written Warning – Formal notice with documentation in the player’s file.

  3. Temporary Suspension – Removal from one or more practices or games.

  4. Dismissal from Program – In cases of repeated or severe misconduct (e.g., violence, bullying, discrimination, damage to property).
     

All incidents will be reviewed by the coaching staff and club management. Parents will be notified for athletes under 18.
Refunds will not be provided for missed sessions or dismissal due to misconduct.

 

6. Privacy and Confidentiality

All personal and disciplinary information will be handled with confidentiality and stored securely in accordance with the club’s privacy policy.
 

7. Acknowledgment

All players and parents/guardians must sign the Code of Conduct acknowledgment form upon registration, confirming they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by the terms of this document.
